The Sterkel Community PARK for All will become one of the premier parks in Ohio where all residents can socialize and play within their level of ability and interest. Richland County has 13,000 children and adults with disabilities and 23,000 senior citizens who will be able to fully participate in this endeavor.
The PARK will feature five colorful, outdoor zones - each with age appropriate play areas. From the awe-inspiring Sky Tower with accessible paths to the top, to a modified merry-go-round, there are play areas for all ages to spur the imagination, develop confidence and create a sense of accomplishment. Restrooms, pavilion and picnic areas will add to the safe environment being developed by the consortia of Richland Community Development Group, Richland Newhope and the City of Mansfield.
Close to the YMCA, Newhope Raintree , Catalyst Life Services' nearby rehabilitation center, the county health department and residential neighborhoods, the all-inclusive ADA-compliant park will be designed to include all citizens of Richland County. At a cost of $5.4 million, the park will serve as a wonderful destination location for area residents and also be an enjoyable place for tourists to come and visit Richland County to not only experience the park but other area restaurants, shops, and attractions. The park will be open to everyone without charging a fee. This will give many local children, families and senior citizens opportunities that they might not otherwise have without having to travel or pay for the experience.
Your contribution to this worthy endeavor will make a difference for the many children and adults that currently do not have a place to join in to play and socialize with peers and can only watch.
