Backpacks 4 Kids - Supporting Our Schools

PLEASE JOIN US IN SUPPORTING OUR SCHOOLS

Help NBC4 & T44 give students in need the tools to get their new school year off to a good start! Our goal is to provide backpacks filled with supplies to  4000 elementary school students across D.C., Maryland, and Virginia.  

 There are several ways that you can help:

Make a secure online  credit or debit card donation on this page.  Your  donation is tax-deductible through the Greater Washington Community Foundation, which houses and distributes all of the raised funds - which we supplement - to purchase backpacks and supplies, which we then distribute.

Donate NEW backpacks & school supplies at one of our on-site collection events:

Thursday, July 18 from 6am-2pm at Whole Foods, Riverdale Park Station,  

6621-B Baltimore Avenue, Riverdale Park, MD.

Saturday, August 3 from Noon-5pm at The Plaza at Tysons Corner Center

Wednesday, August 7 from 6am-Noon at Apple Federal Credit Union, Kingstowne Branch, 6831 Sir Viceroy Dr, Alexandria, VA 22315 

 Here are the supplies needed to fill each backpack:

• Loose leaf notebook paper 
• 2" Three ring binder
• #2 pencils
  
•  Erasers 
•  Composition books 
•  Yellow highlighter 
• Pocket folders 
• One package of 24 crayons and/or one package of colored pencils 
• Glue stick
• 12 inch ruler
