Businesses are at the center of the economic health of our region. We want to see them succeed! What we've noticed is that businesses can be very intentional about making changes and having social impacts in our community. We also know that unemployment rates are high and people want to work. This is where we have chosen to invest in starting Social Enterprises.

Over the past 5 years, the CCT has now invested over $90k is 38 businesses to spark them into existence. These small awards provide what start-up business owners often find difficult find: start-up funding with no strings attached. The start-up funding helps new businesses purchase equipment to start their jobs, like Dave Clevenger of King's Cornerstone Recycling, or Vikki Luna, and the industrial refrigerator and coffee equipment she bought to kick-start Cornerstone Coffee Company. Robert Solorio bought a t-shirt press to help fund 4His Glory Apparel company and help start New Creations Thrift Shop. Each of these businesses employs people who were out of work and were having a hard time finding a job.

There are many stories like these, that have been made possible through the Spark Tank process. This year, we want to invite our community into this. With a goal of $5,000, we hope to raise a new award to be able to invest in a new business.

Would you consider joining us in the process?
