Camp Hochelaga Scholarships

YWCA Vermont Camp Hochelaga has been providing summer camp experiences focused on empowerment and confidence-building for girls for 98 summers. What makes high quality summer camp experiences so important for youth and particularly for girls? Summer camp creates spaces where girls are encouraged to step outside of their comfort zones, build self-confidence and positive self-image by taking on challenges, connect with others across differences, and become empowered leaders. At Camp Hochelaga we strive to make these invaluable experiences accessible to all girls, regardless of financial means. 

During summer 2017 Camp Hochelaga welcomed 58 campers who are living in the foster care system, from low-income families, experiencing homelessness, or navigating illness or death of a parent. Our generous donors made the opportunity to experience the empowerment, and social, emotional and physical safety of a week at camp possible for these campers and so many more in the past 98 seasons of Camp Hochelaga. 

Help us reach our #GivingTuesday2017 goal of making camp experiences possible for 5 girls during summer 2018. The 5 scholarships that your contribution helps make possible will cover 80% of each camper's tuition for a full week of residential summer camp on the shores of Lake Champlain. These campers will have opportunities to grow, gain confidence, and build friendships that could support them for years to come.
