Everyone needs a community in order to succeed. For hundreds of people living with mental illness in Dane County, Yahara House has provided a sense of belonging, support and structure that comes with membership in a strong community. With Yahara House in their corner, members living with mental illness are able to envision a future and realize their dreams.
Yahara House's mission is to transform the lives of people living with mental illness by replacing despair, stigma and isolation with hope, dignity, and community.
90% of YH members live near the poverty line. The Friends of Yahara House Advisory Board raises private funds to help members overcome the challenges of poverty by meeting basic human needs. This includes yearly individual grants to help members defray costs of medical & dental services, housing, utilities, clothing, groceries, transportation and school supplies, with virtually no administrative expense. The Friends also supports Clubhouse trainings, holiday meals, social events and wellness opportunities.
