Pride + Summer 2023 Fundraiser

About New Voices: 

Published since 1991 by the Jewish Student Press Service - an independent, student-run non-profit founded in 1971 - New Voices is America’s only national, justice-focused magazine written by and for Jewish college students. And we operate on a shoestring budget! 

We publish poetry, art, investigations, fiction, campus news, op-eds, and more - all by our community of 18-24 year old contributors. New Voices believes that young Jewish voices are not only the future of our community, but the present.

Through our fellowship program, writer's workshops, mentorship opportunities and speaker series, we help writers hone their ideas and craft, showing themselves and the world that their voices deserve to be heard. 

This Summer:

As hostility toward queer and trans youth persists on a national level and beyond, a platform like ours is urgently needed. This month alone, we've published art, poetry, essays, and short stories about queer Jewish joy, bringing moments of hope into our community. After conducting a watershed investigation on how summer camp culture affects LGBTQ+ youth, our writers continue the conversation with resources, interviews, and research into camp culture - inspiring possibilities for a more inclusive future. 

This Pride, amidst journalistic and legislative attacks against the queer community, we hope you will support our mission by giving to an organization that uplifts LGBTQ+ voices all year long.

We're looking to fundraise a goal of $8,000 for this academic year. Your support from this fundraiser will go to workshops, conferences, speakers, fellowship stipends, writer payments, and organizational costs for JSPS and our magazine. Our total operating costs aren't more than $70k each year, making us a bargain for the Jewish media world's future! By supporting the Jewish Student Press Service, you'll ensure we can continue mentoring and publishing outstanding young Jewish journalists as well as employing our twenty-something Editor in Chief, who is learning the intricacies of Jewish publishing and getting a crash-course in non-profit management.
