Paddle with a Purpose

Every child deserves to have a dream. For Basir, his dream was to have a forever family.

At age 14, he had spent his whole life in foster care and was living in a group home. Basir's high school history teacher, Jeff, saw that Basir needed a family to love and care for him. With the help of Turning Points for Children, Jeff and his wife, Charity, became foster care parents and opened their home and hearts to Basir.

Fast forward to Basir’s senior high school speech, where he credited his foster care family with his success.  In “dreams do come true” fashion, on Basir’s college move-in day, the adoption was finalized and Basir and the Wynne’s are forever a family! Jeff and Charity both agree their lives were changed as much as Basir’s, sharing, “We can’t imagine life without Basir."

Join us as we “Paddle with a Purpose” at the 2024 Dragon Boat Regatta, held Saturday, June 1st, 2024, TD Bank won't just be paddling for a medal, or to defend their championship--they placed 1st in the Ascend Cup last year, but for hopes and dreams of children like Basir.
