Temporary pilot project with painted curbs, bollards & planters for a safer downtown street crossing

$175

raised by 4 people

$350 goal

Our Strong Towns group would like to make something that is as useful and beautiful as it is educational.

Our colorful street pilot installation will feature painted curb extensions, strategically placed bollards, and planters to help residents envision a more enjoyable pedestrian experience and possibly a more permanent solution.

This project aims to demonstrate how designing for people first and accommodating cars will improve safety, beautify downtown, and foster a more inviting community.

This project will take place over Blair's Gateway to the West Days (June 8-9). It will involve the installation as well as public engagement regarding other intersections that need changes and surveying residents on what those interventions should be.

We do not need to spend large amounts of money on plans, consultants, and master plans. We can learn what residents need, make small tactical changes, and adopt what works.
