2016 was a rough year for me, it nearly beat me down. Going in to 2017, I knew I needed to find the things that really fueled me, the things that gave me life. It was just a natural progression that those thoughts ended up with me joining forces with one of my best friends to found the Women's Empowerment Coalition (WECO). I've always had a strong desire to give back, but this time I wanted it to be something really impactful for the women of the world. Women have historically been marginalized, especially in the developing world. I want to stop that. With WECO, I think we can make a big difference!
The first place we're starting is in Cambodia. It's a country with a sad history, but the people who live there are resilient and strong. Especially the women. WECO is dedicated to helping Cambodian women in Siem Reap gain greater accessibility to education on women's rights, health and hygiene, positive parenting, financial literacy, and more! To do that, women need the freedom to learn, and in most cases, that means finding someone to take care of their children while they attend classes. So to help solve that problem, WECO is partnering with a local organization called Women's Resource Center, to build a brand new child care facility to give women greater access to their educational workshops.
It's a huge undertaking and we can't do it without your support! Please donate to help us help other women! No donation amount is too small, and every penny we raise goes directly to building this child care center! All donations are tax deductible! The impact of this center will go on long after we leave and continue to provide a positive shift in gender equality in Siem Reap!
