The Final Push! Where Does Your Money Go?
In Dogtown's final weekly push for our #GivingTuesday campaign, we highlight all of the ways artists in Richmond can call Dogtown home.
Every single dancer that walks through Dogtown's doors is given a home. Whether a dance artist is emerging and just beginning to walk down the path of creation, or a well-established and seasoned choreographer, Dogtown will provide every available resource so that they have the opportunity to create, express, and enjoy art. Some of these endeavors include the theatre’s annual programming created to support individual artists, year-round workshops and classes, and professional marketing resources.
Dogtown's annual classes and workshops include Richmond artsists providing professional instruction in open level community classes in salsa rueda, bachata, African-Caribbean, modern dance, hoop dance, tap, yoga, hip-hop, belly dance fusion, pole dance, and more.
Dogtown offers subsidized studio space for classes and rehearsals as well as a yearly space grant to any artist who applies with the intention of creating new work.
Through our annual programs Mardi Gras RVA, Dogtown Presenter's Series and the Richmond Dance Festival, Dogtown provides professional dance production to artists free of cost, while supporting them with stipends to continue to express themselves and create their artistry.
Dogtown's mission to give independent artists a home only strengthens Richmond's cultural footprint. And a donation at ANY level during #GivingTuesday will help us continue to to support this mission.
At Dogtown Dance Theatre, artists and audiences come together to experience the very best of dance and art. When you contribute to Dogtown Dance Theatre, you do more than help us bring remarkable dance works to our theater. You help us commission new work, provide rehearsal space grants, and bring dance education to public schools.
Programs at Dogtown Dance Theatre embrace a spectrum of dance styles and traditions, from the time-honored to the untried, and are designed to encourage, sustain, and educate a diverse audience.
Dogtown Dance Theatre is a non-profit organization that must rely on the generosity of friends and supporters to meet more than 45% of the annual budget. Individuals, foundations, and corporations can support our efforts in many ways, and in return, we thank our donors by providing special privileges, discounts, and other benefits.
Your support makes all the difference in helping us fulfill our mission to provide a home for independent artists to create and present their work in movement, music, visual, and vocal arts. Richmond has a thriving arts community, and Dogtown wishes to make that community even stronger. With your support on #GivingTuesday, we can achieve that goal!
