FAQ
What is the PUL and PULF?
The PUL (est. 2019) is the first professional ultimate league for women, non-binary people, and people of all marginalized genders. The PUL Foundation is a 501c3 that promotes equity in ultimate and across sport, and works with the PUL to create a more equitable league with a racial justice focus.
Why is this fundraiser hosted by the PUL Foundation (PULF)?
The PULF will work with the PUL in 2021 on the following goals: disrupting normalized systems of oppression, achieving justice and liberation by centering relationships, prioritizing racial justice and equity, and building structures and systems of accountability within the league.
The PULF Board will approve what the #ThisLeague funds are used for, creating criteria the league must achieve in order to use the funds. The PULF also has the ability to accept tax-deductible donations.
How can I help beyond donating?
Share your thoughts on social media! We want to hear about why YOU support #ThisLeague. Post a video, a tweet, etc & use #ThisLeague to lend your voice to the conversation.
Are my donations tax deductible?
Yes. The PUL Foundation is a 501c3; you will receive a tax receipt for your donation.
What will 2021 look like for the PUL/PULF?
If we are able to safely, and our equity criteria are met, the PUL would like to take the field in 2021. The money raised through this campaign would support the PULF’s 2021 budget, which would include advising the league, creating policy, and engaging in programming and competition during the 2021 calendar year.
If we are unable to compete in 2021, the funds from this campaign will be used to help accomplish our goals, and pay people for it, between now and the time we can take the field again.
Regardless of 2021 outcomes, we are committed to…
Allocate budget dollars equitably. To put significant dollars towards
understanding and building a transformative, equitable sports league.Breach the confines of sports models. To reach outside the normal
patterns of professional sports leagues based on consumerism and capitalism.Prioritize marginalized and radical voices in leadership roles. To
elevate and mitigate the risk for marginalized, diverse and radical
voices on our staff, our board, and all positions of power in our league; to center
lived experience and marginalized identities as qualifiers for leadership.Critical conversation, thought, and training with leadership, staff,
coaches, players, and community. To provide spaces and learning
opportunities to enhance and support all levels of our league.Financial transparency. To work towards diverting from traditional
capitalist pro sports business models as much as possible. We’re still
developing what this looks like, but we are committed to telling you
where we’re getting our money from.Equitable Competition and Equitable Business Model. To expand
and implement equity criteria for league staff hires, team staff hires,
team roster selection, game location selection, competitive events,
accessibility, business practices, revenue routes, outreach, etc.
Thank you for your continued support of the PUL and the PULF!
