Support the Suzie Fund

Suzie’s favorite day of the week was Wednesday because that is when she went riding at Giant Steps Therapeutic Equestrian Center. When Suzie started at Giant Steps more than a dozen years ago, she had deep trust issues. Other than with her family, Suzie’s relationships were transitional, and had little continuity. That changed at Giant Steps. The open, caring atmosphere along with profound stability made Giant Steps a place of peace for Suzie.

At Giant Steps, Suzie formed strong friendships with her fellow riders and with her instructors and volunteers, but she had a very special place in her heart for Odee, her horse. Over the years, Odee helped Suzie with movement, strength, and stamina. He built her confidence, and even helped a little bit with patience, which wasn’t always her strong suit. Most importantly, though, Odee gave Suzie joy. She lit up when she saw him, and always had a kiss for him at the end of her lesson. They had a truly beautiful relationship.

Suzie passed away in December, and her family wanted a way to honor Suzie's memory in a meaningful way so established the Suzie Guerin Memorial Adult Scholarship Fund.  Your gift to the Fund will help other adult riders feel the joy that Suzie did at Giant Steps.
