Canterbury Classical School Capital Campaign

We are a small Christian classical school located in Asheville, NC. Our approach is unique; rich with tradition and character.

As a Christian school we seek to make disciples in a grace-filled school culture. We  teach  the importance of forgiveness, honesty, patience and perseverance.  Aiming to build character, we develop students who are passionate about giving to and participating in the heart of the city surrounding us. 

As a classical school we believe the chief aim of education is the development of wisdom and virtue. We want to teach our students "how" to think, not "what" to think. Within the classical model, our students speak Latin, write in cursive, read "the great books" in their entirety, study timeless works of art and begin presentations to their peers in Kindergarten. We limit the use of both technology and homework, teaching the important balance between rigorous academics and time spent with family.

We opened in 2013 with 7 students. Since that time, we have experienced exponential growth and now have 75 students, in grades K-10, with many families on our waiting list. Our board has remained committed to our founding principles to keep tuition affordable and accessible (Our tuition is 70% lower than equivalent private Christian academies!) and to remain an active presence in the heart of our city. As a result, we have seen a beautiful and diverse community develop with many students who otherwise would not be able to attend Christian or classical schools.

Our growth brings us to a crossroads as a school. We have reached capacity at our current building and must transition to a different space for the upcoming school year. The pressing matter before us is bringing the new space up to code, increasing our staffing roster and classroom restorations.

Our long-term vision is to be able to inspire awe and wonder in the hearts and minds of up to 195 students.
