Sudi has suffered on levels we truly can't fathom and have a hard time letting our brains and hearts think about.

She was a farm dog in Iran where she "failed to do her job" chasing livestock and predators. She was just too friendly and loved humans too much.

Her punishment? Her owner cut off her back feet and then dragged her behind a car. The result was that she not only lost her feet but her leg was broken and her hip is ruined.

Nonetheless, this dog survived and was thankfully rescued by a kind person in Iran who then worked incredibly hard to get her out of there. That required a lot of negotiation, planning, documents, flight paperwork and car rides to finally get her to the DC area where Homeward Trails has taken her in.

This dog remains a loving, friendly, sweet girl despite knowing the worst abuse we can imagine. It's remarkable how a dog who has experienced what she has the capability of even knowing love. But she does. Our Sudi has a heart ten times the size of Iran.

Since she arrived in late August, she has had many vet appointments to ascertain the true extent of her injuries including blood work, meds, x-rays and orthopedic appointments. The most exciting has been getting her front prosthetic legs created so she no longer has to hobble on her limbs.

But she has a long way to go until she can be pain-free and happy again. This sweet girl now requires full hip replacement, maybe on two sides. This is our best chance to keep this girl up and going and pain-free.
