One year ago, I started at Tommy Nobis Center. As I walked through the doors, I immediately felt the passion, excitement, and love from everyone at the organization. For me, it has been an amazing year of growth. The opportunity to work alongside many dedicated community champions and witnessing firsthand the amazing accomplishments of youth and young adults with disabilities when provided a safe and empowering space has only strengthened my dedication for our mission: Empowering Through Employment.
Fun Facts:
- Through our Early Youth Employment Services (EYES) we served 1,200 students from 54 different schools!
- Our ConNect Events provide connection and resources for youth with disabilities and their families. Last year, 386 participants attended the events!
- Our Summer and School Break Programs served over 200 students!
- The Academy Cohort 4 graduated from the education phase to move on to the internship phase and Cohort 5 started on November 4!
Tommy Nobis Center recognizes the disparity in the unemployment rates for individuals with disabilities, especially black individuals, with the highest unemployment rate of 12.3%. We are striving to close this gap by ensuring equitable access to employment opportunities and resources. This includes raising awareness and changing mindsets throughout the community and potential employers.
Please donate to the Tommy Nobis Center today and follow along on our social media to watch the magic happen!

But give what you can, it all goes toward supporting students on their path to success!
