Raise the Dough for CKUK

The Campus Kitchen at the University of Kentucky (CKUK) is an on-campus service organization, housed in the Department of Dietetics and Human Nutrition, that empowers young leaders to create change in their community, while simultaneously addressing food waste and hunger. 

Since our launch in 2014, we have transformed nearly 20,000 lbs of recovered food into 13,500 nutritious meals for students, adults, and seniors struggling with hunger. This year, we have focused our services on campus, to serve the 43% of UK students experiencing food insecurity. Through a weekly meal program called Farm-to-Fork, we served more than 1,600 meals to nearly 650 students since September of 2018.

From February 15th-22nd, CKUK is competing against Campus Kitchens across the country in the annual "Raise the Dough" Challenge.  All funds raised will be used to expand upon CKUK’s work to end hunger on UK’s campus.

You can support our mission by:

• Donating:
  • $5 can provide 10 meals to UK students experiencing hunger

  • $10 can purchase staple ingredients (25 lb bag of flour, 3 lbs of butter, or 10 lbs of sugar)

  • $25 can purchase new food storage containers to increase our food recovery capacity

  • $50 can provide a full Farm-to-Fork lunch, serving 125 students

  • $100 can employ a Farm-to-Fork student manager for a month

  • $250 can fund our nutrition education  Programs for the entire semester - reaching over 50 individuals experiencing hunger 

  • $500 can provide Farm-to-Fork meals for an entire semester - that is 1,600 healthy meals!!

  • $1000 can support a Farm-to-Fork student manager for a year 

  • $5000 can employ our Food Justice Manager, AmeriCorps VISTA for a year!

• Asking three friends to commit a $5 donation (The school with the most amount of money raised will win $1000; the school with the highest number of donors will win $750!)
