Rockaway Neighbors Helping Neighbors Initiative

We are a group of neighbors who live in one of the 5 remaining public housing developments in Rockaway, Queens, NYC. Our goal is to uplift, encourage and inspire one another to be involved in housing and civic matters so that we may better advocate for our rights and well being.

We have been working towards this goal since 2018 through a mix of research and organizing. Of course, the COVID-19 pandemic set us back, but since 2021, we have come back strong and are building towards our future together. 

Right now we are engaging our Resident Empowerment Outreach Plan (Re-Op), a game plan to raise the consciousness of our neighbors, increase community connection, power and capacity for civic action through broad and deep outreach and organizing across the five remaining public housing development in Far Rockaway Queens. We are seeking support for printing, meetings and gatherings, stipends for neighbors, tech needs, travel expenses and other supplies.
