2018 Team HUM in Honor of Don Yost

Baltimore Running Festival is a great fundraiser for the Helping Up Mission. This year it is on the same day as my husbands birthday, October 20th.  So in honor of Don Yost I am joining team HUM during this event to help raise funds for the awesome work that they do.

I started my relationship with the Helping Up Mission back in the mid 80's when it was only an over night men's shelter.  It started with me taking leftover baked goods from church bake sales over to the shelter for the men. 

Boy has it changed since then! 

I was given the opportunity to work in a temporary position at HUM in 2015 just after my husband passed away. My office was next to the room where men would come and write thank you notes to donors. The conversation that went on during those times was truly and inspiration. These men face hard work to reach recovery and spurred one another on through it all. I believe that the Helping Up Mission is one of the best of its kind in our nation.

HUM is leading the fight against addiction, poverty, and homelessness in Baltimore City.  With God as their foundation and Jesus their inspiration, men that are diseased and desperate with addiction can have a safe place to heal, find encouragement and the love of Christ. Won’t you help them continue this great work!! Even the smallest donation can help change a life.
