Join Amanda and Give to GAIN!

Friends,

I am proud to serve as chairperson of the board of directors for Georgia Asylum and Immigration Network (GAIN), which provides free legal services to asylum seekers and immigrant survivors of persecution.  For #GivingTuesday this year I have set a goal of raising $2,220 to support GAIN's newly launched Client Care Program. This new initiative allows GAIN to go beyond providing free legal services to offer essential resources like access to food, shelter, and transportation. 

On a personal note, I have been working with a client on his asylum journey since 2018.  He is a single father battling ongoing medical issues that require treatments twice a week. He struggles to find work that accommodates his physical limits, but is working as an Uber driver when he can to support his family and save enough money to be placed on an organ  transplant list. He often pushes through pain and physical discomfort, but the added stress of a looming eviction and mounting financial strain is jeopardizing his health and future. He is currently working with a GAIN case manager to find additional employment and to negotiate a payment plan for his rent, but he needs our help:

• $520 will keep him housed this month
• $2,220 will secure his housing through January
• $5,500 will prevent eviction, allow him to focus on finding stable work, and save enough to qualify for a life-saving organ transplant

This is just one example of the hardships GAIN’s clients are facing. Many are fighting against immense odds, balancing medical, financial, and legal crises with nowhere else to turn. Our Client Care Program is needed now more than ever to help vulnerable immigrants stabilize their lives, protect their families, and secure brighter futures. Your support not only transforms this father’s life but also empowers GAIN to continue being a lifeline for so many in need.
