In the U.S., about 38% of food goes uneaten, wasting precious resources, labor, and producing harmful climate emissions. At the same time, 1 in 3 Denverites—over 300,000 neighbors—struggles to access consistent, nutritious meals.

At Denver Food Rescue (DFR), we bridge this gap. Through our innovative 'food recovery model,' we partner with grocery stores, food retailers, and community leaders to rescue fresh, surplus food (often by e-bike!) and deliver it directly to 21 No Cost Grocery Programs (NCGPs). These programs are led by and for the community, offering culturally relevant, high-nutrient foods like fresh produce and perishables.

  • Why is Denver Food Rescue's work important to you?
  • How has food access (or lack thereof) impacted your life or your community?
  • What does "food justice" mean to you?
  • What's a memorable experience you've had related to food, community, or helping others?
  • How do you see Denver Food Rescue contributing to a healthier and more equitable Denver?
  • What change do you hope to see in our food system, and how does DFR play a part in that?
  • How did you first learn about Denver Food Rescue?
  • What inspired you to support Denver Food Rescue's Colfax Marathon team?
  • Have you volunteered with DFR? If so, what was that experience like?  If not, what motivates you to support them?
  • What other organizations or causes are you passionate about, and how do they connect with DFR's mission?
  • What message would you share with someone who is considering donating to DFR?

Thank you for your dedication to our mission! Together, we are making a difference for our neighbors and our city.
