It’s the most wonderful time of the year — Give Miami Day!#GiveMiamiDay is the perfect opportunity to show support for the non-profit organizations that work year long to uplift our communities.
This year I’m proud to Champion Code/Art — a nonprofit dedicated to increasing the number of girls studying computer science by delighting and inspiring them with the creative possibilities of computer programming.
As a woman in technology, born and raised in South Florida with degrees in Art History and Computer Science, Code/Art’s initiative is near and dear to my heart, and I look forward to every chance to volunteer with their organization. The ingenuity of their program design is not only fun and engaging, but also astoundingly effective!
Code/Art has reached over 8,000 girls to date with:
- 3,643 girls taught Code/Art lessons by K-12 Teachers trained by Code/Art
- 1,830 after school Code/Art Clubs & Coding Workshop Participants
- 2,586 annual Coding Competition Contestants
While this work is incredible, it’s not without challenges surrounding resources, staffing, and funding. It would mean the world to me to make a contribution to Code/Art this #GiveMiamiDay to support the future of women in tech and our tech industry!
Onward and upward!!
