The redevelopment of the Poughkeepsie Underwear Factory is an anchor project in Hudson River Housing's work to preserve and strengthen the Middle Main Street corridor.
We are excited to introduce Poughkeepsie and its visitors to this new space for community, connection, and commerce! Since our Grand Opening in March 2017, we have brought this iconic factory building back to life with:
Poughkeepsie Open Kitchen (POK) - a shared-use commercial kitchen and food business incubator. This space is available for rent on an hourly basis for food entrepreneurs, ie. retail or wholesale operations, caterers, food truck operators, food educators, and chefs seeking space for pop-up restaurants. This space also serves as a home for anchor business Earth, Wind & Fuego, which offers healthy, locally-sourced meals Monday - Friday on site. It is also the home of a work readiness and volunteer program focused on skills in the culinary and hospitality industry.
North River Roasters @ The Factory - Poughkeepsie's coffee roaster, North River Roasters is connecting the community through coffee. North River Roasters serves quality coffee that is sourced mindfully from farms that provide fair wages and use sustainable farming methods. In partnership with Hudson River Housing North River Roasters is managing a coffee house on the first floor of the factory. Outside of coffee house hours, the space is available for rent for private events.
Artist Studios and Printmaking Workshop - Building on the vibrancy of the local arts and maker community, the Mid-Hudson Heritage Center is managing seven artist studio spaces and a printmaking workshop on the second floor of the factory.
Youth Arts Space - Mill Street Loft + Spark Media Project, two of the Hudson Valley's leading arts organizations, have merged and taken up space on the third floor of the factory, using it as a an active location for youth arts programming.
Fifteen Apartments - Fifteen studios and one bedroom apartments are available for individuals and families.
The Poughkeepsie Underwear Factory is an economic engine, an educational tool, and community connector in Middle Main. This space leverages the rich bounty of food and arts in the Hudson Valley and creates jobs and educational opportunities, while attracting visitors from the area and beyond to connect.
