PoCo Power Shift

Through our work to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion in Portage County, CREATE has notice a structural gap . While our community is lucky to have amazing Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) with lived and professional experience to inform anti-racism efforts here, we don't have the structure and organization to pay our community members for their leadership. CREATE is participating in A Community Thrives in hopes of filling that gap.

With this money, we plan to empower BIPOC to work with the support of CREATE and other partner organizations to develop training curricula, reporting and evaluation systems, and long-term coaching that support the integration of anti-racism work into organizations and businesses throughout Portage County. Rather than making limited space at an existing table of power within our community, this project aims to #buildanewtable, shifting power to BIPOC to lead our community toward a better future of shared ownership.
