Every. Single. Penny. Goes towards bringing life-saving and life-enriching services to remote, remarkable villages in Mid-western Nepal.
Dear friends, family and all who are contributing to this fundraiser,
It's not often that we get to see our world through the lens of extreme poverty. Many of us in the developed world are surrounded by medical facilities, schools, the internet, numerous career opportunities, and it never really dawns on us that there are regions in the world where those wonderful things do not exist.
Remote Nepal is one of those regions and The Oda Foundation is one of the few organizations operating on the ground in Nepal's most marginalized communities. We have treated over 30,000 patients in our 3+ years of medical operations and we have given the students of Oda a brand new classroom where English tutoring sessions are carried out on a daily basis.
Today, on our 24th birthday, we look back on our childhood spent in the suburbs of Chicago and feel so fortunate to have had access to well-equipped schools, doctors, medicine, the promise of following our intellectual curiosities and of having the option to attend higher education.
The young students and families that live in the village of Oda and its surrounding communities deserve the same resources and opportunities that we had as kids and continue to have as adults. To make that happen we are asking you to get involved in our campaign in any way you can; donating to our fundraiser, sharing it with friends and family, learning about The Oda Foundation for yourself- it would mean the world to us.
This fundraiser will change the course of many individual's lives for the better. We are honored to be promoting such a meaningful cause and we would be honored to have you as part of our team. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us with any questions or comments.
Many thanks and more to come,
Nick and Dani Kraft
Our 3 key investments:
1. Health
Every month our medical facility sees roughly 1,000 patients. Operating as one of the only fully-staffed clinics and fully-stocked pharmacies in the region, patients walk up to 10 hours for our services. Monthly medicine shipments make up our largest operational cost.
2. Education
The village of Oda and its surrounding communities have very little in the form of educational resources. While a government-sponsored school exists, a lack of funding has resulted in an inadequate amount of teachers and next to nothing in the form of supplemental learning supplies and services. Almost two years ago we opened the doors to our new classroom where local Nepali teachers and foreign volunteers teach 5 classes a day. After roughly two years of English classes for students aged 8-15, we are looking to introduce a nursery school and bring on fully qualified education and teaching professional to take over our education operations.
3. Future
It is a challenge and our number one priority to fund our daily operations, but it is our hope to also fund medical and educational scholarships along with a medical emergency fund. These initiatives put an important emphasis on the future for the individuals that we serve. For our communities, secondary education and emergency medical care has been granted to only those who are most fortunate, we'd like to make it available to anyone who requires and desires it.
