Friends and colleagues,

I am proud to serve as a Board Member at GAIN, and for #GivingTuesday this year, I have set a goal of raising $7000 to support GAIN's newly launched Client Care Program. This new initiative allows GAIN to go beyond providing free legal services for asylum seekers and immigrant survivors and offer essential resources like access to food, shelter, and transportation. 

This year, I am fundraising for a GAIN client providing for a family on a single income while battling ongoing critical, ongoing medical issues that require treatments twice a week. He struggles to find work that accommodates his physical limits but is working as an Uber driver when he can to support his family while awaiting placement on an organ transplant list. He often pushes through pain and physical discomfort, but the added stress of a looming eviction and mounting financial strain is jeopardizing his health and future.

He is currently working with a GAIN case manager to find additional employment and to negotiate a payment plan for his rent, but he needs our help:

$2,220 will secure his housing through January.

$5,500 will prevent eviction, allow him to focus on finding stable work, and save enough to qualify for a life-saving transplant.

$7,000 will provide an additional contribution to GAIN's operating budget to allow for the provision of similar essential services to other GAIN clients. 

This is just one example of the hardships GAIN’s clients are facing. Many are fighting against immense odds, balancing medical, financial, and legal crises with nowhere else to turn. Our Client Care Program is needed now more than ever to help vulnerable immigrants stabilize their lives, protect their families, and secure brighter futures.
