Finishing Year Two

Update posted 2 years ago

An update on one of our students:

Bev is in her 2nd year of University. She has just finished doing an  internship at the National Hospital in Solola. She can now do injections, cleaning and bandaging wound care. We pay for her room and board when she is away from home for school.

Next year she will be continuing to study at the University and she will have two internships to do in different areas.  She does not know where yet.

She really loved doing the internship and interacting with patients. She feels that she has learned a lot.

We are a group of professors raising money to pay college tuition for several young indigenous women studying to become nurses in Guatemala.  One of the first students we will help is Ana, pictured above.  She lives in a small village near Lake Atitlan, Guatemala. and grew up speaking Kaqchikel and Spanish.   She is beginning her first year in February of 2020.   There is such a need for Kaquchikel-speaking medical professionals.  Ana becoming a nurse not only advances her life but prepares her to help her whole community.
