Music education, outreach, and performance are powerful tools for creating bonds and fostering understanding between people and cultures. In this spirit, the FULL National Arab Orchestra (NAO) will make its first visit to Texas to perform On the Shoulders of Giants: Arab Women in Music at Laurie Auditorium on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 7:30 p.m.
This concert is planned by a group of San Antonio volunteers to raise awareness of this amazing art form and to celebrate the contributions of women to this ancient heritage. The event is presented and partially funded by Trinity University and ticket sales. However, additional donations are needed to make this concert a success and to launch the first local chapter of NAO in San Antonio, Texas.
Contributions of all sizes are appreciated! You can even make a dedication ("Dedicated to", "In Memory of" or "In Honor of") with your donation during check-out. As a thank you for your generous gift, you will be acknowledged in the concert program if your gift is received by October 31. Please note in check-out if you wish to remain anonymous.
Thirty world-class musicians and four fabulous vocalists will travel from all around the USA to San Antonio to perform classical and contemporary Arab music. One vocalist, Hela Melki, is coming from Tunisia to perform.
