Welcome! This page is the home of the Ben Curcio/Dan Wolf Auto Group Mustache March for Autism! 2025 marks the 12th anniversary of my annual fundraiser for the Turning Pointe Autism Foundation! We've raised over $26,000 over the years, and here on year #12 we’re looking to keep that total growing!
Many years back, when we first started having Turning Pointe students work in our dealerships, I did not understand what autism was, how wide the autism spectrum was, or how greatly misunderstood many people on the autism spectrum feel. I read several books on the topic (I highly recommend The Reason I Jump: The Inner Voice of a Thirteen-Year-Old Boy with Autism by Naoki Higashida), which inspired me to get involved and do something to help. Why do I keep doing this every year? Because it matters to me, plain & simple. The work Turning Pointe does is incredibly important, not just for their students but to spread awareness of what autism is (and isn’t) and how all of us have the ability to make a difference in our own way. Every year of course the goal is to help support Turning Pointe, but it also serves as a humbling reminder to me that each of us has a responsibility to take action to make the world around us a better place.
I am, as always, inspired by the incredible work & enormous amount of support the organization has given to the education of teens, young adults, and families affected by autism. I have worked for the Dan Wolf Automotive Group for over 20 years now. The Wolf family started the foundation in 2007 to address a dire need for a program that would help teenagers and young adults affected by autism to increase independence and more effectively transition into adulthood. I have learned a great deal about the life-changing work the folks at Turning Pointe do during my time here, and felt compelled to do my part in supporting them. This is just one guy trying to do what I can to help a cause I truly believe in. The basic premise is really simple; I shave off my beard and rock just a mustache all month as a way to raise awareness and raise money to help Turning Pointe continue their work. I look a bit goofy every single March, but that’s the whole idea; getting out of my comfort zone and doing something that makes a difference. Just a quirky way to raise awareness and much-needed support for this great organization!. Check out our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/mustachemarchforautism
A little background:
Autism affects 1 in 36 children. Just ten years ago, that number was 1 in 10,000. Today, autism is more common in children than cancer, diabetes, Down’s Syndrome and AIDS combined. To meet the needs of this growing population, Turning Pointe Autism Foundation is partnering with families, schools, businesses and the community to support the specialized approaches, intensive therapies and accommodations necessary for our children and young adults to grow and thrive. Through the Turning Pointe school, career development and employment, special recreation and residential programs, Turning Pointe is helping individuals impacted by autism develop the skills needed to achieve a competent and meaningful adulthood. Turning Pointe focuses on the strengths that every student has, and helps them develop their skills into ones that can make each student an asset to any company that is lucky enough to have them!
