Morgan's 2024 Ride To Maine

I have been apart of this ride in some form since I was 8 years old, but this will be my 6th time as a rider.  Sadly, cancer has impacted my family in many ways, like a lot of other families, it has been apart of my story since I was very young. My mom has cancer, my grandfather passed away from cancer, and Ive watched other family members battle it, beat it, and lose to it. 

Fighting for a cause I believe in was engraved into my personality since I was a kid. My parents have been apart of this ride since the beginning and every year I would watch them sacrifice time, energy, and many other things to raise money for those impacted by cancer in our community. It truly is so special to continue their legacy and be a rider on this journey. Each year is a different experience, different atmosphere, and carries a different meaning than the last, but never fails to leave a lasting imprint on both me and the cancer community we serve. 

We ride in honor and memory of many, for those written on our sleeves, residing in our hearts, waiting in hospital beds for treatment, sitting in chairs for chemo, and for those who cancer took way too soon. I am honored to represent and ride for every last one of them.  

We often get called crazy for going on this ride, but I love being apart of something so much bigger than myself, something that reminds me when I am in pain, when I dont want to go up the mountain, when I reaaaalllyyy don't want to get up at 4 am to get on a bike another day - that I am reminded that yes, this is my choice, this is the battle that I am choosing to be apart of, to remind me that no day is guaranteed, and that there are others suffering a lot worse than me. That is why I pedal each stroke. That is why I train for this year after year. That is why I love this ride.
