My dogs Miles & Raider loved hanging out with the Casa Youth Shelter residents. You can see a photo from one of their visits. One of the residents rubbed Miles’ belly for an hour, just quietly connecting with her.
For eleven beautiful years, I brought Miles & Raider to Casa Youth Shelter to spend time with the residents, hang out, and let them get their minds off their problems. I could see the difference spending time with him made – the kids would laugh and joke after an hour with Miles and Raider. I could literally see the stress and tension leave them for a little while.
What keeps me coming back to Casa Youth Shelter is the staff – Casa Youth Shelter staff is amazing. For some of the kids, their positive encouragement are the first kind words they've ever heard from an adult. I can tell what a difference being at Casa Youth Shelter has made in their lives. They've helped kids turn their lives around from every kind of crisis you can think of - going down the wrong path, making bad decisions, or getting involved with the justice system. Whatever the crisis is, Casa Youth Shelter makes such a big difference in the lives of the kids they help each and every day.
Casa Youth Shelter is a very unique organization, and their mission is incredibly powerful to me. I hope you can help me support this special place with a donation to my Long Beach Gives campaign today. Thank you!
