I joined FJI as a paralegal in February, 2020. I am committed to social justice and passionate about seeking solutions to end the mass caging of human beings.

Most recently I have been part of the team working to end the inhumane living conditions at Dade CI, right here in our backyard in Homestead, Florida. This past summer, the heat index data broke record highs, with some of the hottest, most humid days we have ever experienced. Yet the Florida Department of Corrections refuses to provide air conditioning or adequate ventilation to the people confined within this prison. It is awful. People are dying. Elderly, black, Latinx, and disabled people are suffering in what they call "hell". At FJI we take these cases on, when no one else will. We seek to bring about change and to treat people with dignity. Your donation, no matter the size will help fund our work. It will go directly to what we do each day. Not too many grants or programs want to fund an organization like ours - they don't see our clients like we do - but it's because of generous donors like you, that we can keep fighting. 

I am so anxious about what the future holds for Florida.  The rights of the most vulnerable are at stake. Many of us are feeling a sense of despair and uncertainty. You wonder how you can help or what you can do. This is your chance to make a difference.
