MEWS Winter Support Fund '18/'19

Our mission at MEWS is to provide Montavilla’s most vulnerable neighbors with a safe, warm place to shelter during severe weather emergencies. And we believe the best way to do that is by neighbors helping neighbors, and utilizing the power of mutual aid.

The shelter is low-barrier, pet friendly, & dedicated to the principles of harm reduction, with a trauma informed approach. Last year we served over 600 guests, & we expect that number to increase this year. 

Generous donations of supplies, & volunteer time from our amazing neighbors have helped MEWS thrive over the last several years. That spirit of community support, & even community defense, remains central to our work, & we're committed to that growth. This has also allowed us to become more organized, better prepared for the winters ahead of us, & helped narrow down what our needs are in order to better serve our guests. 

The money donated to this fund will be used solely to purchase the supplies, & services listed on this Google doc (MEWS Fundraising Item List ), to help with fees associated with becoming a nonprofit, as well as to fund a post-winter volunteer & guest appreciation party in the Spring.
