Bird Park and Nature Reserve of Copán, Honduras
Located on ten acres of forested terrain in a stream-fed valley, Macaw Mountain is a bird park and nature reserve focused on preserving the stunning beauty of Honduran flora and avian fauna.
Our work focuses on:
- Rehabilitation, reproduction and release programs to restore Scarlet Macaw populations
- conservation of our cultural and natural heritage
- education programs for the local community, encouraging environmental responsibility
In 2011 we started working to restore a population of free-flying Scarlet Macaws to Copán’s famous Archaeological Park in conjunction with the World Parrot Trust, the local NGO Asociación Copán and several government agencies.
With your help, we can make the dream of creating the “Sacred Valley of the Scarlet Macaw” a reality!
Your donation will be processed by USA partner the World Parrot Trust. All funds will be redirected to support conservation efforts in Honduras.
