Support Free Live Entertainment in Untermyer Park!

The Untermeyer Performing Arts Council was created in 1976 to bring entertainment and music to Untermyer Park, the former home of the late Minnie and Samuel Untermyer. The couple not only were patrons of the arts, Samuel created beautiful gardens on their Yonkers estate. His masterpiece was the exquisite walled Persian garden, a national showpiece. For more than 45 years, the  Untermyer Performing Arts Council has fulfilled this mission, delighting tens of thousands of people with free performances of music, dance, theater, opera, and more.  World Fest performances take place every Summer Saturday evening,  June through September, presenting a variety of programming each week. 

In this charming setting overlooking the Hudson River, audiences have thrilled to the sounds of  symphonic music, the beat of Big Bands, the rhythms of rock and rap. They have enjoyed ballet, modern dance, and up-to-the-minute experimental troupes. They have enjoyed opera, laughed at a Shakespeare comedy or cried at one of his tragedies. They have joined  neighbors to celebrate the music and dance of many of the ethnic groups that make up Yonkers’ wonderfully diverse population.  

When our season is behind us, our work continues.  Our community tree lighting is not only a fun evening for residents and their families, but also gives us the opportunity to collect holiday gifts for the foster children program at Rising Ground's Leake and Watts Campus in the Yonkers' Ludlow neighborhood.  Off season, we frequently present quality live entertainment at venues throughout Yonkers, for Yonkers Arts Weekend and for National Night Out.  Our annual awards cocktail party honors prominent citizens, people who have made significant contribution to our thriving Yonkers arts community.
