You may wonder why I am participating again on a week long bike ride to Maine. I am no bike rider!!!!   I have been supporting the Challenge to Conquer Cancer since its inception. I started competing in their BBQ cook offs at St James Church.  Alan Howard, who many of you knew was diagnosed with kidney cancer and unfortunately later passed away.  He brought a crowd to the cook off and by some miraculous event he always won!!!  It was fun and the BBQ cooks took it seriously!  The cookoff raised money when they rode to California and Austin, Texas to the big Lance Armstrong event !!

In April 2022 , I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. It was scary and I walked down a path that was uncharted for me.  I was fortunate to have a great surgeon, Eric Busby, at Prisma.  I am now cancer free.  I had great support from Gina Franco who works in the Cancer Research Center at Prisma,  as well as my cousin in law who had the same surgery.  I am doing GREAT now, no more catheters and no more diapers!!!!

I have also been touched by personal losses with cancer.  I lost my dad at the age of 69 with lung cancer that later metastasized into his brain. I have a soon to be 96 year old mother who has fought cancer twice and is still kicking strong!

I have been a good friend of Ron Jerina, founding member of C3.  I was at the send offin 2022, and I saw all the support that goes into this ride. I wanted to DO SOMETHING instead of being a check writer.  Give something back!!!!  I will be supporting the riders  again this year.  It takes a village to get them safely to Maine,  just like it takes a village to beat cancer.

I am asking for your support for our epic ride to Maine.   On difficult climbs riders choose warriors to dedicate their climb to.  I will never forget the picture Ron sent as he rode for me!   It made such an impact!  I want to pass it along.  If you would like to share the name of  a current warrior fighting cancer please let me know and we will honor them with a designated ride.

Follow the links and donate if you are able.  All funds raised will remain in Greenville to further research already in progress. We will be leaving Greenville on September 14th from the Cancer Research Center at Prisma about 9 a.m..  Come out share in the excitement as we start the journey to Maine. Its a moving experience
