This May, celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month by supporting KCCEB’s mental health prevention and early intervention services!

Hi, I’m Yang, a wellness counselor/social worker at KCCEB. I provide counseling in English and Mandarin to API folks from ages 9 to 90. This work is important to me because receiving counseling and mental health support is the reason I made it through the first few years of my immigration journey. I am grateful to be on the provider side of it now because it means I can give back what I have gained. While this job is challenging and heartbreaking at times, I am humbled every day by the strength, wisdom, resilience, and hope I see in my clients.

What I do is prevention and early intervention work, which is much more accessible for API folks who might have grown up with a stigma against mental health, struggled with the medical model of services, or felt frustrated with providers who lack cultural awareness. The funding for my work is at risk of reallocation through prop 1, which is why this fundraiser is more significant than ever. If you could spare any amount of money, please consider donating so we can continue to serve API folks who deserve access to mental health care in their preferred language and cultural context.

Donate $20 to get a handmade coaster!

To thank you for your donation, I am giving out one coaster for donations that are $20 and above! To receive your coaster, please make sure to use an email address that is monitored regularly when you check out!

These coasters are made with fabrics designed and made in Korea. They are also made with upcycled cotton batting scraps from my other crafts. These coasters and the production of them are self-funded by me through my small business, Two Thicc Asians (Find us on Instagram @TwoThiccAsians!).

If you'd like to learn more about how KCCEB bridges the gap in affirming care for individuals facing systemic barriers to mental health care through preventative and early intervention programs, here is a infographic that lays it out for you:

Your support this Give in May will ensure that limited-English proficient and low-income AAPI individuals can continue to access culturally responsive and affirming mental health care services.
