$30,000 goal
(Esp. abajo) Our goal is to raise $30,000 to support the important work of the Prescott College Kino Bay Center for Cultural and Ecological Studies in the coming year. We need your help!
The Kino Bay Center is a field station on the Gulf of California that facilitates environmental education, research, collaboration, and conservation. Our programs provide life-changing educational experiences, facilitate important community collaborations, and provide crucial research on key species in the region. . We do this through our vision of modeling and promoting collaborations between people from different cultures and institutions to co-create solutions. The support of our community near and far makes this possible - that’s you!
We are able to grow as an organization and broaden our impact thanks to the time, energy, and resources of thousands of individuals who are dedicated to our mission and vision both now and in the past. Last year we celebrated many significant accomplishments which included:
- Receiving over 1,300 visitors including 175 university students and 443 community members and creating new partnerships with educational groups and researchers
- Registering more than 3,400 individuals from 6 different marine mammal species
- Collaborating with the Grupo Cooijac, the Comcaac youth birding group, for 30 hours of waterbird surveying Estero Santa Rosa
- Making significant progress on the Program for the Conservation and Management of Laguna La Cruz
- Removing approximately 637kg of trash and debris from Laguna La Cruz through a community clean-up celebrating World Wetlands Day
- Co-facilitating a regional network of 7 different youth ecology clubs with 172 participants year-round
- Implementing the Biocultural Field School, a 10-month program integrating indigenous knowledge and culture with Western knowledge through field studies in leadership, natural resource conservation, language and culture, and community wellbeing
- Boosting communication efforts and information exchange through more frequent newsletters, social media posts, videos, and website updates
Your generous donation will help us continue to make our mission a reality - to provide unique opportunities for students, community members, and researchers to protect priority species and habitats through the integrated application of science, education, information exchange, and community participation. We are launching our campaign on November 1st with a generous matching pledge of $6,000 from the KAKATU Foundation but we need your help to match these funds to get the donation. Please donate at whatever level is comfortable for you. Your support ensures a strong future for the Prescott College Kino Bay Center, contributes to environmental conservation, and empowers individuals to make a change. Thank you for your contribution!
