Jack is typical of so many dogs we see in our rural communities. Allowed to roam on his own across roads and highways, onto farms and into the woods he was a little guy with a bit too much freedom.

He was regularly seen on local social media looking cold and hungry with no collar. But he eventually would be reunited with his family.

This week, he once again was wandering and came upon a cow. It did not end well. The sweet boy was kicked really hard by the cow, breaking his leg severely.

Poor Jack hobbled home and then collapsed in pain. He stayed that way overnight. By morning he was taken to the vet where the only option was surgery and his owners could not afford it. Most would then surrender him to the shelter to be euthanized but thankfully the vet called our partner rescue. And they contacted us to help.

We could not let this little guy be euthanized for a treatable injury. BUT we now must raise the funds to get his surgery done - likely amputation. He currently sits in a cage at the vet on pain meds awaiting our ability to get him fixed up.

A donation of any size will help get this guy into his next phase with a family who can properly care for him and keep him safe, especially if he may only have 3 legs. :(
