Support the NECIC Urban Farm and Transform the Local Food Economy
The NECIC Urban Farm represents the realization of a community-driven vision built through intentional planning, effective collaboration, and widespread support. This vibrant, 12-acre site has evolved from being part of a food desert into a cornerstone of economic and agricultural development for the North End of Mansfield, Ohio.
Why It Matters: The Urban Farm is designed to keep local food dollars within the community while providing opportunities, and proven methods for sustainable urban farming. With 9 high tunnels and over 50 productive growing beds, NECIC, along with the Richland Gro-Op, supply fresh produce to local restaurants and institutions, fostering a healthier local food system.
Your Impact: Last year alone, the farm produced thousands of pounds of fresh, local produce. However, maintaining and expanding the farm’s operations require ongoing support. Your donation will directly aid in meeting essential soil and water needs and support farm operation enhancements.
More Than Just a Farm: The NECIC Urban Farm is home to micro farms such as The Food Lab and Fulfillment Farms, hosts the North End Farmers Market, and facilitates sustainability projects like the Ohio EPA Community Composting Project. Generous land contributions from the Gorman Rupp Company have provided space for further expansion, enabling even greater community impact.
