Project New Yorker's goal is to raise $20,000 for its Adult Literacy program, offering both Beginner and Upper Beginner levels English classes tailored for Bengali speaking women.
Classes will run from Fall 2024 through Spring 2025.
According to the Asian American Federation report "Profile of New York City’s Bangladeshi Americans", 66% of Bangladeshi New Yorkers live in Queens. And 53% o this demographic have limited English proficiency. Our goal is to improve these statistics.
Your donations will be critical in hiring a part-time instructor, supporting curriculum development, and purchasing textbooks American Empower Starter and Elementary series from Cambridge University Press, and building a lending library. Additionally, funds will help us provide essential course materials for each student, including folders, composition notebooks, and writing supplements, ensuring all students have the resources necessary to succeed in their language learning journey.
