Harbor Humane Society serves as a safe haven for all animals, regardless of health, history, and how they ended up with us. Giving animals a second chance is what our mission is every day we show up to work. My small role through my job is helping get these animals into successful forever homes. Fostering for two years prior to working at Harbor, I’ve learned a lot about how Harbor functions, and how we truly embody that mission. On the average day, we are caring for 150-350 animals. Some may be in foster, but nonetheless, Harbor supports their fosters by providing ALL the supplies. In addition to this, we have a phenomenal vet team that provides a level of care that keeps all of our animals as healthy as possible. The need for donations is constant. There’s not a day that goes by that Harbor could function without the support of our community. With my foster kittens, four two month old kittens go through 12 cans of food a day. That means they are going through a case of food every two days. The cost of feeding these four kittens is $20 dollars every TWO days. Nonetheless, their vaccines, fixing, and general care of the kittens. Without members of the community, these kittens bellies would not be full. We NEED your help. Right now, through this pandemic, we cannot accept in-kind donations, out of safety for our staff. Please consider a monetary donation so that we can have the means to continue providing the level of care that we currently do for ALL of our animals. For every donation, I will make a photo of a foster kitten with their paw print signature as a ‘Thank You’ and a reminder that people like you are why we can take care of little babies like them.
