Hope Heals is a non-profit organization, founded and operated by Spencer Khoury. We are  grounded in the belief that “difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations.” Life is filled with twists and turns that challenge our emotional fortitude, pushing many to their breaking point. Hope Heals aims to be a driving influence that empowers individuals to reach their beautiful destination.

One of the most difficult challenges anyone can face is being diagnosed with cancer. The internal struggle is mind-numbing to navigate because the disease is persistent, unforgiving, and physically and emotionally exhausting. Although our world does not have the answer to cancer yet, there is a common characteristic shared among survivors: Hope. That is why Hope Heals wants to build, renew, and maintain hope for the countless children suffering from this terrible disease. 

Our organization is launching a series of Hope Heals campaigns that provide children diagnosed with cancer the opportunity to express their emotions and reaffirm their strength as they continue to fight. Our strategy is to develop a variety of activities that will serve as catalyst of hope. Hope Heals will be a brand that evokes emotion because it facilitates a connection through a craft or experience. The initial outreach will be limited to the Greater Los Angeles area and our first campaign, Art Heals. However, as we look to expand, our potential impact is vast.

All “Healing” campaigns will have the same objective: “to alleviate some of the emotional hardship that children face by providing a creative outlet and mentorship atmosphere that is fostered through expense-free activity.” This will give all participants an opportunity to confront and overcome the mental hardship associated with battling cancer. Our ultimate goal is to create an environment where patients can try new things, express themselves, and remain optimistic about their battle—optimism can be the difference between life or death.

Our flagship campaign is called Art Heals, and the program entails visiting local partnering hospitals once a month and sharing a painting experience with all interested participants. During this time, they will be able to create a unique masterpiece. Our team will have all the necessary supplies to facilitate momentary relief from the hardships of daily treatment. At the end of the painting session, the children will have the option to either keep their canvas or donate it back to Hope Heals. Each piece of donated art will be put on our website and auctioned off, and all auction proceeds will be donated to cancer research.

Our fight does not just end with our activity campaigns. Hope Heals will donate any funds generated, in excess of operational costs, to cancer research. Initially, we have outlined two revenue streams to maintain operations: 1) creating and selling unique merchandise through our website, 2) by auctioning off donated products from the activities (i.e. any paintings that participants create during an Art Heals event).
