Pupdate #2 - THANK YOU!

Update posted 4 years ago

Hello LDCRF Community,

A few weeks ago, we launched this immediate-action-needed fundraiser to raise the funds necessary to provide lifesaving care and critical medical treatment for 14 puppies diagnosed with parvovirus, a highly contagious illness that can often be fatal. We'd like to extend a most heartfelt THANK YOU to those who donated to the puppies’ intensive, around-the-clock veterinary care and sent positive thoughts their way. Your generosity helped us raise over $13,000, equipping us with the ability to do everything in our power to save their lives - thank you for this!

Out of those who contracted parvovirus, 7 of the treated puppies survived their parvo battle and are now well recovered - Igloo, Blaze, Dusk, Miley, Survivor, Easter and Springer... the puppy warriors! You all allowed us to give them ALL a fighting chance, and we’re so grateful we were able to save these 7 precious lives.

Several of the recovered pups including Blaze, Dusk (a foster win! 🎉), Miley and Miller are already adopted into their furever homes! Igloo is also on her way to becoming a foster win adoption success. All other pups are feeling strong and healthy in their foster homes, and will be ready for adoption soon!

Due to the support of our generous donors, these pups fought hard to overcome one of the most devastating and deadly diseases young puppies can face. Because of you, they get the chance to live happy and healthy lives with families who will love them for what we hope will be MANY more years to come!

While we weren’t able to save every puppy treated, we take great comfort in knowing we were able to provide them with the best care, the most love, and the greatest support during the short time they were with LDCRF. We have so much gratitude for each and every one of you who showed these puppies what it means to love during this difficult time - It truly means so much to us.

Due to the large number of puppies who broke at one time with parvovirus, veterinary costs left us with an excess of $50,000 in medical bills. This has exhausted our contingency and emergency funds we need to continue battling this fatal virus in the future and we never know when it will affect more of our beloved puppies — While we remain hopeful we won’t have to face this dreadful virus any longer, we ask for your continued help in supporting our ability to be ready, should the unfortunate need to provide emergency Parvo care occur again.

If you’re able to support us in our mission for readiness and preparedness, please consider donating to our cause today to this same Mighty Cause campaign - we could not do what we do without you.

We hope you will enjoy swiping through the photos to see the 7 recovered, happy and healthy puppies YOUR generosity helped support!

With gratitude,
Dawn Wallace
Executive Director

We were devastated to learn that 14 puppies from 2 litters we recently rescued were diagnosed with parvovirus, a deadly disease affecting young puppies and unvaccinated adult dogs. Treating Parvo requires intensive, around-the-clock veterinary care and is very expensive.

Our team quickly secured emergency care at several vets in the area and is committed to providing these pups with the timely treatment they so desperately need to survive.  7 puppies are still in critical care, while the rest receive continued treatment through full recovery.

Igloo (pictured above ) is a beautiful Shepard husky mix that is currently one of 14 puppies fighting for their lives. As a nonprofit organization,  LDCRF relies upon your support to cover costly treatment expenses like this.

Treating just one puppy for parvovirus can cost over $1,000, and at LDCRF, we strongly believe that fighting for their lives is worth every single penny. Donate any amount to help these puppies with treatment!

We’re closely monitoring their conditions as they receive treatment from Columbia Pike Animal Hospital & Emergency Center, Blue Ridge Veterinary Associates, and Cascade Pet Hospital and will keep everyone updated.

These puppies are in the best hands and will get all of the care they need to have the very best chance at survival.

Please consider making a donation in any amount toward's their treatment. And keep these puppies in your thoughts tonight as they fight for survival.
