As most of you know, I'm the co-executive director at Young Authors Greenhouse and I direct our programs and partnerships, which means I have the honor of working directly with the young writers in our community, our volunteers, and our staff.
This year, we are thrilled to share that we have replanted to a new location in the Beechmont neighborhood! A new space means a new opportunity to grow a place where young people can create their own story.
We know the importance of cultivating a space for students to write their worries, hopes, futures. Imagination takes practice—and young people are so much better at it than adults are. Our students' imaginations are not tethered by tradition or “the way it has always been.” When students are able to foster their own imaginations—through writing stories about mythical creatures, creating new planets—they are practicing the skills they need to imagine and reimagine a more just, equitable, and joyful world. These students are not future leaders—they are leaders now. And we should all turn and listen to what these writers have to say. Their voices deserve not only our attention, but our action.
Join us in writing this new chapter of Young Authors Greenhouse and make a gift to support this work, these students. Every dollar matters. Here's to a year of deepened roots and new blooms.
