A new baby is born at the clinic.

Update posted 3 years ago

Thanks to donor support last year, we were able to finalize the clinic's new maternity room in March 2021. Since then, our Head Nurse, Miss Donia Samedi, has helped to safely deliver almost 20 babies! We are encouraging more and more pregnant women to utilize the clinic as a safe setting for deliveries, in case of any complications. We also believe in incorporating traditional practices, so we work together with local midwives, known as matwon in Haiti, to ensure the best possible care for our expecting mothers.

We can use your support to continue doing this important work!

Chateau was affected by the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that hit Haiti on Saturday, August 14, killing more than 2,000 people and injuring and/or displacing thousands of others nationwide.

While a number of organizations are leading incredible relief efforts to provide support to the people of the southern Haiti, these relief efforts rarely reach areas like Chateau.

Thankfully, Chateau has reported no fatalities. However, there has been significant structural damage to the clinic and staff residence that CORRECT Health in Haiti helps to fund, as well houses in the local community.

CORRECT Health’s Plan to Support

Immediate emergency support

At this time, our clinic Medical Director, Dr. Wandal Charles, is conducting a detailed needs assessment to identify the most affected households. In parallel, we are raising funds to launch the following initiatives:

  • Distribute hygiene kits with essential items including soap and water purification tablets to mitigate spread of waterborne diseases
  • Provide staple food items including rice and oil
  • Organize mobile clinics in neighboring villages to provide care and distribute free medication

Long-term recovery

  • Repair the clinic and staff residence so that CORRECT Health can continue to provide routine medical services

How You can Help

We’re looking to raise $25,000 to execute our efforts to bring relief support to the residents of Chateau.

We rely on the support of our partners like you more than ever.
