This page is being re-purposed for a short-term project: Frances Jeffries is celebrating her 84th Birthday by hiking 84 miles on the Appalachian Trail--and she is raising money for three organizations (see Use of Funds). Her goal is $8,400, and the net will be split between the three groups (MightyCause takes a small cut).
Here is the re-purpose: Gender and Radiation Impact Project is adding this fundraiser ON TOP of our Scholarship Fund page.
The Scholarship Fund has a historical fund balance of $6,050, which is included in the current balance on this page. The new overall 'goal' shown is the Scholarship Fund balance plus $8,400 which is the goal Frances has set.
SO as of today, Sept 6, 2024, Frances has brought in $2,585 towards the goal of $8,400.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to Mary Olson, gender.radiation(at)gmail.com
We know this is less than perfect, but we promise: your support will be honored and go to the organizations Frances is supporting.

Olson and Folkers have a combined half century + of experience helping impacted communities, members of the media, elected and appointed officials and many others to understand ionizing radiation and its impacts on the human body and our environment.
Both women have converged on looking at where radiation has disproportionate impacts--particularly impacts to girls and women. Both with peer-reviewed papers in hand, they decided it was time to teach. Our goal is to reach younger people, but the short courses are here for anyone for whom exploring radiation impacts from an independent perspective is personally important. Each class will be at least 3 hours of real-time engagement.
In part to signify commitment from the student, and in part to generate organizational income, fees are being charged on a sliding scale, $30--$300. This fund is to provide baseline funding for those who cannot pay $30. We will redistribute the income from participant fees across the sliding scale to $150 per participant, and supplement from this fund to meet that goal.
The informal courses are not for credit--though the two are open to teaming up with others who could provide CME and credits for other types of ongoing certification requirements.
To start, three classes are being offered--depending on the interest, these may be repeated, and other offerings added. To see the current class line-up, click here.
