We often go about our daily life without pausing to acknowledge the every day things we take for granted: hot water, heat, working appliances, safe doors, stairways, windows, fire alarms, and more. Often, we are unaware of the elderly, disabled, or needy who are struggling with simple or complicated home repairs every day. After meeting and working with many New Britain residents, who have worked hard for most of their lives but still struggle to maintain their homes on meager social security benefits and small pensions, people who have given to the community their whole lives and now need a helping hand, I have created this family page to support the organization where I work, an organization that has helped so many people for over twenty-five years.

STRENGTHENING THE COMMUNITY:

Rebuilding Together New Britain is unique because the organization works with local businesses and volunteers to provide no-cost home repairs for those who qualify. Everybody joins together to help a deserving resident: contractors, sponsoring businesses, volunteers who devote their time, and the Rebuilding Together staff that organizes a project; hence the mission, which is repairing homes, revitalizing communities, rebuilding lives.

HOW YOUR DONATION HELPS

Every week there are requests from a distraught New Britain homeowners who are in need of an essential urgent home repair. In one month alone, Rebuilding Together New Britain (RTNB) receives pleas to take care of active plumbing leaks, decaying front steps, loose railings, and broken or old windows. While RTNB is fortunate to secure funding to help many individuals, it does not take long before that funding runs out, leaving vulnerable homeowners nowhere to turn; therefore, they are forced to live in unsafe and uncomfortable conditions.
