2024 Give Out Fundraiser

Scaffolding Advocacy and Inclusive Leadership Inc. (SAIL) is a nonprofit organization focused on queer youth advocacy. SAIL has three main initiatives:

• AMPLITUDE – SAIL facilitates the creation of AMPLITUDE, a podcast by queer and allied youth for everyone. SAIL’s diverse group of youth volunteers lead all aspects of the production of the podcasts, focusing on the education and advocacy resources they feel are important to them and the greater community. The youth start by researching the chosen topic for an episode so that they can bring multiple perspectives to the podcasting and discuss issues from multiple sides. Recent topics have included identity labels, banned books, fandom, consent and boundaries, and voting rights. 
•  Book Connections – SAIL has created Book Connections to foster connections and understanding between people in a world that is rejecting DEI. Book Connections are discussion groups at companies or organizations that aim to foster deeper conversations and understanding around marginalized identities. These discussions are facilitated by the discussion of a children’s picture book so that the barrier to entry is low and everyone present has a shared language to draw from surrounding the conversation topic. These groups meet regularly across several weeks for months, discussing a new book at each meeting as a way of building trust and community as well as understanding across the duration of the group. 
• Website Membership – SAIL has created many trainings and workshops for companies and organizations to increase their inclusivity and support of marginalized communities. We are working to make all these resources available through a membership website. These trainings cover youth leadership, LGBTQIA+ basics and understanding, and social and implicit biases. We hope to have the Website Membership open by the end of the summer.
