When you take care of a family member, Friends in Action takes care of YOU. Friends in Action is a unique program that helps family caregivers through the biggest challenge of their lives.

Respite/Legacy Corps for Veteran and Military Families: highly trained volunteers give caregivers a break—time to relax and recharge, knowing their family member is with a capable, trusted companion.
- In 2015, FIA volunteers provided 8,255 hours dedicated to assisting elders maintain their independence and age in their homes with family.
- In 2015, 120 veteran and military family caregivers received weekly breaks by highly trained and dedicated Legacy Corps volunteers.
- In 2015, FIA volunteers provided an average of 186 rides each month to doctors appointments, grocery stores, errands, and commmunity outings.
- FIA volunteers average approximately 2,000 miles per month providing much needed transportation.
Education: award-winning, peer-led workshops that help caregivers learn how to reduce stress, navigate problems, connect with resources, and take care of themselves.
- In 2015, 46 family caregivers graduated from the Powerful Tools for Caregivers Program.
- In 2016 nearly 400 family caregivers across the lifespan attended the 5th Annual Family Caregiver Conference.
