La historia de Flor Vázquez es una historia de resiliencia y amor. En 2005, Flor dejó su hogar en México y se embarcó en un viaje hacia una nueva vida en los Estados Unidos. Poco sabía que su camino se cruzaría con el de Luis, un hombre que se convertiría en su compañero de vida. En 2008, Flor y Luis formaron su familia, dando la bienvenida a su primer hijo. Mientras esperaba el nacimiento de su primer hijo, Flor recibió un diagnóstico médico que le cambió la vida y que pondría a prueba su fuerza y determinación.
A los ocho meses de embarazo, un médico descubrió que Flor tenía problemas renales. Este descubrimiento llevó a un parto prematuro de su bebé, marcando el comienzo de sus problemas de salud. Los embarazos y partos posteriores, en 2012 y 2017, se convirtieron en casos de alto riesgo, lo que arrojó una sombra de incertidumbre sobre la vida de la joven familia.
Desde su diagnóstico de insuficiencia renal hace quince años, Flor ha trabajado en estrecha colaboración con su equipo médico para tratar su condición. Este tratamiento incluye diálisis frecuente hasta que Flor reciba un trasplante de riñón que le salve la vida. El costo de la diálisis regular es agotador, tanto física como emocionalmente. Sin embargo, su espíritu inquebrantable y su determinación la llevaron a una nueva esperanza: la diálisis domiciliaria. La diálisis domiciliaria le ofrece más comodidad, ya que se lleva a cabo durante la noche, lo que le permite conservar su energía durante el día. Ha estado en diálisis domiciliaria desde marzo de 2023 y le ha dado un rayo de esperanza para un futuro mejor.
Desafortunadamente, el nuevo riñón de Flor tiene un costo muy alto.
El trasplante de riñón promedio cuesta más de $400,000. Incluso con el apoyo de un seguro médico, Flor todavía enfrenta gastos médicos significativos después de su trasplante. Después del trasplante, seguirá habiendo necesidades financieras apremiantes, incluida la atención de seguimiento de por vida y los medicamentos costosos.
Flor quiere desesperadamente volver a crear recuerdos con su familia.
La historia de Flor no solo tiene que ver con la salud, sino también con el profundo amor que siente por su familia.

Dear friends and supporters,
Flor Vazquez’s story is one of resilience and love. In 2005, Flor left her home in Mexico and embarked on a journey to a new life in the United States. Little did she know that her path would intersect with that of Luis, a man who would become her partner in life. In 2008, Flor and Luis started their family, welcoming their first child. While anticipating the birth of their first child Flor received a life-changing medical diagnosis that would test her strength and determination.
At eight months pregnant, a doctor discovered that Flor had kidney issues. This discovery led to an early delivery of her baby, marking the beginning of her health struggles. Subsequent pregnancies and deliveries in 2012 and 2017, became high-risk cases, casting a shadow of uncertainty over the young family's life.
Since her diagnosis of renal insufficiency fifteen years ago Flor has worked closely with her medical team to treat her condition. This treatment includes frequent dialysis until Flor receives a lifesaving kidney transplant. The toll of regular dialysis is exhausting, both physically and emotionally. However, her unwavering spirit and determination led her to a new hope – home dialysis. Home dialysis offers her more comfort, as it takes place during the night, allowing her to conserve her energy during the day. She has been on home dialysis since March of 2023, and it has given her a glimmer of hope for a brighter future.
Unfortunately, Flor’s new kidney comes at a very high cost.
The average kidney transplant costs more than $400,000. Even with the support of health insurance, Flor still faces significant medical expenses following her transplant. Post transplant there will continue to be pressing financial needs including lifetime follow-up care and costly medications.
Flor desperately wants to get back to making memories with her family.
Flor's story is not only about health but also about the deep love she has for her family.
Despite the challenges she faces, Flor continues to care for her three children as a devoted housewife. She dreams of the simple joys in life, like going for walks to see the lake and the sunset. These walks once brought her solace and happiness, and she yearns to regain the strength to enjoy them once more.
